Steward Training is being offered to any member, regardless
if you have been a Steward in the past or if you want to be a Steward in the
future. We encourage all members to receive Steward Training, especially current
Stewards, Trustees, Executive Board members, and Officers so they have a better
understanding of their contract and how the grievance process works.
This training, provided by Peggy Kermeen, Field Education Coordinator,
Department of Education and Leadership Training, AFSCME International, in
conjunction with Wisconsin Council 40 is being offered at NO COST to you or your
Local. The training will focus on the role of the Steward, the basics of
contract enforcement (including grievance processing), Weingarten Rights, as
well as the Steward’s role in investigatory interviews and disciplinary
grievances. BRING YOUR CONTRACT! Other supplies will be provided.
The training lasts about 3-3½ hours, and dinner will be provided.
This training is limited to the first 70 members who sign up, so please RSVP
Staff Representative Mary Scoon by September 1, so that we may plan accordingly
for both food and materials.
