CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT DEADLINE - FEBRUARY 15
If your Local/Chapter wishes to propose any amendments to the Council 40 Constitution,
they must be submitted to the Council office no later than February 15, per the following
procedure set forth in Article XI of our Constitution:
Section 1. Proposed amendments to this Constitution may be submitted by any affiliated
Local Union or by any certified delegate to the Convention. Such proposed amendments shall
be in writing and shall be submitted to the Council Executive Board at least sixty (60)
days prior to the Convention of the Council at which a vote on the proposal is to be
taken; provided, however, that the Council Executive Board may submit proposed amendments
at any time up to and including the second day of the Convention. The proposed amendment
and the recommendation of the Council Executive Board on such proposed amendment shall be
submitted to the Council delegates for action.
Section 2. The adoption of any proposed amendment shall require a two-thirds vote at a
regular or special Convention, except as hereinafter provided in this Section. Any
amendment which is submitted to the Council Executive Board ninety (90) or more days prior
to the opening of the Convention, a copy of which shall be mailed by the Executive
Director to each affiliated Local and Chapter not less than sixty (60) days prior to the
opening of the Convention, may be adopted by majority vote of the Convention.
RESOLUTION DEADLINE - MARCH 19
If your Local/Chapter desires to submit any resolutions for Convention action, such
resolutions should be submitted to the Council 40 office no later than March 19.
