RETIREES DUES CHECK-OFF BILL RECEIVES HEARING – SCHEDULED FOR A VOTE - Senate Bill
282, which would allow participants in the Wisconsin Retirement System to have union dues automatically
deducted from their pensions, received a hearing in the Senate Committee on Labor this week.  AFSCME
Wisconsin Retirees Chapter 7 officers Darold Lowe and Joe Kreuser testified before the Committee,
offering a detailed explanation of how the system works in 39 other retirement systems and the benefits of
allowing dues check-off under WRS to Wisconsin.  SB-282 will be voted on by the Committee next week on
Wednesday, February 27.  AFSCME is optimistic that a vote before the full Senate will be held before the
legislative session adjourns in March.
