DISTRICT #8. . .Here is a reminder that the District #8 Spring
Conference is scheduled for Saturday,
February 16, at Shack Smokehouse & Grille, 3301 Belknap Street, Superior.
Registration, coffee
&
rolls at 8:00 a.m.; call to order at 9:00 a.m. The agenda includes an
issues roundtable, preview of
Council
40's Convention, discussion of Spring elections, and reports from the
Officers, Executive Board
members,
and Staff Representatives.
LOBBY DAY. . .Mark your calendars that Wednesday, March 5,
is Lobby Day at the Capitol. More

STAFF VACANCY. . .Council 40 has an opening for the newly created
position of Political Action
Representative. Along with strong oral and written communication skills, a
thorough understanding of
grass
roots member mobilization and election law is required. Previous campaign
experience and a
background in
political science is desirable. The current salary range is $4,280
to $6,492/month. This
position will be based
in our Madison office but a great deal of statewide
traveling and night work is
involved. For more information,

MEMBER IN NEED OF HELP. . .Menomonie School District employee
Brenda Wahl has been battling
cancer for quite some time and has amassed significant unpaid medical bills. A

JACKSON. . .Village of Jackson employees, members of Local 1061,
have a three-year agreement.
Wages
increased 3% 1/1/07 and 3.25% 1/1/08. A 3.5% increase is scheduled for
1/1/09. As part of
the settlement,
the Village will now pay 92.5% of the single and family health
insurance premiums (was
95.5%). Benefit
improvements include improved banking of compensatory time (from
40 hours to 60
hours/year) and 100%
payout of accumulated sick leave at retirement (was 60%).
In addition, the Village
agreed to place limits on
supervisors performing bargaining unit work.
