STEVENS POINT ELECTION WIN. . .Housing Authority employees in Stevens Point voted 6-2 this week
for AFSCME Council 40 representation. the bargaining unit consists of nine employees who
will be
members of Stevens Point Local 309. Thanks to Council 40 Organizer Mary Burpee

HELP FOR PRICE FAMILY. . .Last month we reported the sad news that Nathan
Price, a member of
Columbia County Highway Local 995, was killed on the job in an accident. A memorial fund
for his
surviving wife, Brenda, and young daughter, Emily, has been established. We ask all Locals
to consider

EXECUTIVE BOARD AGENDA. . .Enclosed for local secretaries is the agenda for
the February 3, 2007
Council 40 Executive Board meeting to be held at the AFSCME Headquarters in Madison.
Please
understand that the agenda being sent is preliminary as of 1/19/07 and additional items
could be added
before or during the evening.
RACINE. . .Water Department employees in Racine, members of Local 63,
recently ratified a new three
year contract. Wages were increased 3% retro to 1/1/06. Another 3% increase was applied on
1/1/07. On
7/1/07 wages will go up another 0.5%. In the last year, wages will increase 3.25% on
1/1/08. Plant
Operators received an extra 20¢/hour on 1/1/07. DNR license incentives (available to all)
were increased
by 5¢/hour. Shift premiums and stand-by pay were increased by the same rates as wages
over the three
years. The Employer will pay 95% of the single and family health insurance premiums. A new
$100
incentive for not using sick leave was added.
DISTRICT #1. . .Here's a reminder that the District #1 Spring Conference is
scheduled for Saturday, 2/24,
at the Labor Temple, 1602 S. Park St., Madison. Registration, coffee, and rolls at
8:00 a.m.,
call-to-order at 9:00 a.m. The agenda includes a preview of Council 40's
Convention, discussion of
Spring elections, and reports from the Officers, Executive Board members, and Staff
Representatives.
