SPRING PRIMARY. . .Election Day (2/19) is coming up fast. The
presidential primary has the national
spotlight, but there are many other local issues to be determined and candidates
to be selected. If there
are PEOPLE endorsed candidates for local office in your area, urge your members
to get out and vote.
The real action takes place in April when there will be hundreds of city,
county, and school district officials
up for election. As soon as the primary is over, your County PEOPLE Committee
needs to interview
candidates and make endorsements for April. Now is also the time to become
reacquainted with your
area “Take Back Wisconsin/Take Back America” project organizer. You will be
seeing and hearing from
him or her quite a bit as we prepare for the November 4 national elections.
CONVENTION CALL. . .It will be mailed next week - but only to
those affiliates that have paid their PCT
through December, 2007. Check with your Treasurer, and get your PCT up to date
if necessary.
WOMEN’S COMMITTEE. . .A reminder that Council 40's Women’s
Advisory Committee will be meeting
on March 3 at 10:30 a.m. in Madison at the Wisconsin AFSCME headquarters

LOBBY DAY. . .Wednesday, March 5 is still the day. Final details
will be coming out soon but plan for
similar bus stops on the various routes to Madison. If you know that the locals
in your area plan to bring a
particularly large group (15 or more) there is still time to modify the
routes/stops accordingly. Please let
Jane Hart in the International office know ASAP. Her number is 608-836-6666.
IN MEMORIUM. . .We are saddened to learn that Brother Robert “Bob”
Dupree, Vice President of Local
560-A, Chippewa Valley Technical College custodial/maintenance employees, has
