FLOOD ASSISTANCE UPDATE. . .The International Union has moved $100,000 into the “AFSCME Fallen
Heroes Fund.” This money will be used to rebuild the lives of hundreds of AFSCME members and their
families in the upper Midwest who have suffered tremendous losses as a result of the torrential storms of early
June. AFSCME members are welcome to join Council 40 in contributing to this emergency fund. Checks for
the International’s “AFSCME Fallen Heroes Fund” should indicate on either the memo line of the check or in
a cover letter that your contribution should be used to help victims of the Midwest floods. Contributions should
be sent to: AFSCME Fallen Heroes Fund, 1625 L Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20036-5687.

MORE FLOOD INFORMATION. . .In addition to making a generous donation to the International’s flood relief
fund, Council 40 is in the process of distributing very limited funds to those members most devastated by the
recent floods. If you know of any members who have been displaced or have suffered catastrophic losses,
and have not already applied for the Council’s assistance
, please contact Michelle Byrne at the Madison
office ASAP.
