IN MEMORIAM. . .We are very sad to report that Dale Bryant,
President of the Rock County Courthouse
Employees, Local 2489, was killed in a
car crash on his way home from work on Saturday, July 5. He was 44
years old.
Brother Bryant was proud of his work as a correctional officer as well as his
twenty years of total
service in the Army, National Guard, and Army Reserve. In
addition to his active involvement in AFSCME, he
was a member of the Rock County
Sheriff’s Honor Guard. He loved his hometown of Evansville where he
served as a
Boy Scout leader, a former City Council member, and member of Masonic Lodge #32.
He is
survived by his wife Julie and two children, Trevor and Hannah. A memorial
fund has been established for his

CHILDCARE PROJECT STAFF HIRED. . .As part of the overall efforts to fully
integrate the recently
organized family care providers into Council 40, three
providers have been hired as temporary project staff.
They are Genniene
Lovelace-Michel, Oma Vic McMurray and Silke O’Donnell. For at least the next six
months, they will assist the to-be-elected officers establish a state-wide
childcare local union and continue
organizing new child care provider members.
All three can be reached at the Madison office. Welcome
Genniene, Oma and Silke!
ANALYZE THIS. . .Presidents and Secretaries are receiving the first issue of
what is planned to be a
monthly update from the Council’s well-respected
Research Department. The first issue, Analyze This,
explains what the Research
Department does and the resources available to local unions. Next month’s
issue
will discuss “status quo”, “quid pro quo” and other common bargaining terms.
